Fidel Castro's warnings

Being a dictator must be tough on a guy's mind. Just like it is good to be the king, so it is good to be th e dictator. Both the king and the dictator have few things to desire and many things to fear. Being on the top of the world implies that any change is a loss.

Fidel posted on his blog about the latest report on education in America. His tone is that of a prophet trying to warn the world of an impending disaster.

Unfortunately, there's no news there: e everybody knows just how bad education and nuclear war are. Everybody knows a war with Iran isn't conducive to health and well-being.

Education is tougher to discuss, because the sple alternative is to shout loudly about how awesome education was three generations ago. Well, it wasn't. Going back in time won't solve anything, and neither will calling today's youth stupid.

The world population is stupid, or rather stupidified by the pop culture it desires.

A report on education performs an operation of cutting a slice of the population and pointing fingers at them. Students and teenagers are an easy target. A report that takes the status of "scientific" is summarized by news agencies and thrown into society's face, hoping to get a ruckus going.

The teachers and parents can now feel justified in complaining about their kids' habits, for whatever they are there's gotta be a culprit. Teachers and parents can now engage in a seek and destroy mission, so they won't have time to develop a reading habit.

How unfortunate.
