The 2008 sElection - Banned Video!

I'm bringing it to you before it's deleted again...

9/11 "Terrorist Attacks"

I've just watched the final cut of the movie called Loose Change (nice name, huh?). Download its torrent or go directly to the official website . I actually had watched it before, but it was a previous edition. I have to say they've improved it a lot! Especially because they included funding figures for the investigation committees: not giving enough money or taking too long to investigate it is also a way of hiding information. If you live in the USA, you should be particularly worried about these three: Patriot Acts Invasion of Iraq Habeas Corpus Another thing that came to mind was the new plan to save the financial US environment. Roughly speaking, it means shooting up money on dying companies. Paul Krugman's snaking suspicion made me think that there are more places where an explanation comes after making the decision and taking action. The internet era makes it easier for us to find information on differente sources, which means people will probably inven...

Dealing with the internet and My Chemical Romance

I´ve been one of the first digital natives around... my generation has, I mean. Even so, I´m still not quite so sure as how to deal with all the data that comes under my umbrella. It´s easy to talk about the extremes: House or Heroes episodes aren´t something I need to be concerned about, especially because I can simply download them again easily; on the other opposite is my graduation thesis and similar stuff... if I lose it, it´s gone for good. What about the stuff in between? A good example would be my mp3s. I had over 7GB of mp3´s untill just now. Of course I didn´t listen to it all, but it was almost like a photograph of myself, or the stages of life that I had encountered. It´s not on any of the extremes I talked about above, but I really felt connected to those files. I decided to erase them all and start fresh. I erased the whole directory just a few minutes ago and it feels like I´m chosing the way my photographs will look like from here on. And my first step was to ge...

White noise

I was browsing the web yesterday and I've found a really useful website with a tutorial on OpenGL (unfortunately I wasn't on this computer and don't have the link). Reading that tutorial, there was a small comment about the web: "I'm gonna add my little contribution to the white noise that is the web". So this is what the web is: white noise. I couldn't agree more with him. It is noise. But I couldn't disagree more, because his "contribution to the noise" was really helpful to me. Meaning it wasn't noise at all. Actually, whereas this might seem like a oximoron, I don't think there's any contradiction. I think it's alright to write just to be amidst the noise, but I might reach one or two people for whom this is really important.

What should you do?

You might have a cool answer when someone asks what have you been doing with your life. I myself don't have any good, cool and ready-to-go answers. Sometimes I think I'm doing nothing, but sometimes I think I'm on the right track. Either way, I usually conclude that I can't sit around thinking I'm right. It'd be simply doing what everyone else does: they try to justify their way of living. But that's besides the point. My point is that there's no point in trying to justify what you do.

Movies, blogs, my dad and some thoughts.

My dad was over visiting me this last weekend. Come to think of it, having someone over usually is both good and bad: good because of the company and you get to someone who was away; bad because there's another person in the house, and this always means you've got to share your space. Of course there are some people I'm glad to share my personal space with, namely my girlfriend. Well, since I'm not much of a host, I hadn't a whole lot of fun places to go (I've only lived here two months now). So I didn't know what to do with my dad. After I spent some time trying to figure out something we could do together and that would be interesting, and that he couldn't do anywhere else... I gave up. I took him to see that movie: Wanted . Why this movie? Well, it has Angelina Jolie, it's an action movie and... well it'd use up two hours of our time! Even more, if you counted in all of the time to get to the theater, buy the tickets, buy popcorn, walk a...

Gogol Bordello: Wonderlust King

I love this song, man....

Don't give me more of what I already like!

I simply love music. Can't get enough of it. But I do hate when it sucks, and I hate it too when there's nothing new coming about. With no further ado, here's a little something I've discovered today... Discover Lizz Wright ! This song was the suggested song when I first opened up www.deezer.com today. That's a great thing about Deezer that is put off by services like www.pandora.com or www.last.fm you know? Those genetic heuristic computer-generated songlists don't bring you anything that is different from what you're used to. I'd never heard of Lizz Wright before logging into Deezer today. Hope there's more of this good stuff where that came from.

Is Spore gonna die to DRM?

I've been craving to play Spore since I watched this very very old youtube video of Robin Williams playing it: However, this suggests that their business model is already failing due to the use of DRM. Will I ever be able to play it?

More about Google Chrome

I once had a dream of light browsers. With Google Chrome beating up IE8 and Windows XP on resource consumption, I really thought that this dream was over. Now I've simply fired up my slackware powered server, and logged on my gmail through the simple text-based links browser. Maybe we still have hope.
